About Us

A family business - that’s how it’s always been at fonaCAB. Ever since Sidney McCausland bought his first 15 black Fairway (FX4) taxis back in 1962. It didn’t take long before the fleet expanded to 30, then 90, then 120.

A man who always loved his cars, his passion must have been in his blood. William, his son, got involved in the business during the 1980s and is the company’s CEO today and now looks after a fleet of over 1000 cars and drivers.

Through the decades, fonaCAB has evolved to embrace new technology and new business models. The first to install data heads, a fully automated booking system, text back services and now the new easy to use App, fonaCAB continues to innovate and lead the way in delivering an exceptional taxi service.

Times change and technologies evolve, but one core principle remains constant – the desire to always be there for the people of Northern Ireland, whatever their day holds in store.

Will I be safe in a fonaCAB taxi?

The short answer is yes. With complete traceability on every booking, rest assured that details for every car and driver are 100% transparent. <
All our drivers are all licensed by the Road Transport Licensing Division (RTLD), have a full driving licence and are eligible to work legally in Northern Ireland. We also put our drivers through rigorous training schemes to ensure safety and feeling safe is a top priority. But, you can take steps to stay safe too.

What can I do to keep myself safe?

The best way to get home safe in a taxi is to prebook a car with a licensed operation like fonaCAB. If you do find yourself out and about and need to get home in an unbooked taxi, then make sure it's licensed. Unlicensed taxis aren’t safe as you have no way of knowing if the driver has met the minimum safety standards.

Can I book a wheelchair taxi?

Yes, some of the vehicles in our fleet are wheelchair accessible. If you require a wheelchair taxi, please contact us on 02890 333 333 to book in advance or to check availability.

I'd like to become a fonaCAB driver. Who do I speak to?
